Christmas in Switzerland

We depart on the morning of December 24. We will begin our tour of Switzerland in Basel, located on the banks of the Rhine, We will visit the famous Münster, the tombs of Anna Habsburg and Erasmus of Rotterdam, and the university where the great Paracelsus taught. What we see will make us repeat the words of Austrian Emperor Franz: “I must visit Basel again.” In the evening, we will check into a hotel in Zurich for two nights.

On December 25, during a tour of the Swiss capital Bern, we will visit the “bear corner” (which is, however, included in the UNESCO list!): bears adorn the coat of arms and flag, fountains, postcards, badges, and the chimes of the Clock Tower. You can meet the living “symbol of the city” in the medieval streets, among the arcades, colonnades, and fountains. In the afternoon, we will move on to Lucerne, a city of bohemian culture and carnivals, which will be remembered for its elegant bridges, medieval streets, and fortress walls. Return to the same hotel.

On December 26, we begin with a walk through Zurich, the financial center of the confederation (and the world!). It will not be possible to see how unimaginable wealth is “forged,” but the buildings of Swiss banks on the most beautiful street in Europe are impressive. The city is transformed for Christmas: the old town and houses are decorated with garlands of lights, and the streets are filled with the pleasant aroma of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine. The residents of Zurich are very proud of the illuminations on their main street - more than 20,000 lights are lit up on Bahnhofstrasse at Christmas. But it's time for us to go home. Late in the evening, we return to Germany.
